The Pope and Heaven
SINGLE LIFE
No eye has seen, nor ear
heard, nor the heart of man
conceived, what God has
prepared for those who
love Him. (1 Cor. 2:9)
In my Father's house there
are many dwellings...I
shall come back to take
you with me, that where
I am you also may be.
(John 14:2-3)
"...for it is quie impossible to describe the secrets of heaven in the words of earth." Saint Therese of Lisieux, The Story of a Soul
Heavenly Greeting - Poem
Dear God,
For a long time
I have wondered about
how You will meet me when
I die and come to live
with You in Heaven.
I know you reach out
Your hand to welcome
Your people into Your
home, But, I never knew
if You reached out Your
right hand,or if you
reached out Your
left hand. But now,
I don't have to wonder
about that anymore.
I asked my mommy
and she told me that
You reach out both
of Your hands, and
welcome us with a great
big giant hug. Wow!
I can't wait for my hug,
God. Thank you, and Amen.
Poem composed by
Mattie J.T. Stepanek.
Mattie got his hug from God
on June 22, 2004, three
weeks before his
14th birthday.

ETERNAL LIFE
Seek Eternal Life Now, Urges Benedict XVI
Calls It an Immersion in God's Love
VATICAN CITY, NOV. 1, 2006 (Zenit.org).- Eternal life is to live immersed in God's love, says Benedict XVI, and it's something all can begin living today.
Before reciting the midday Angelus from the window of his study today, with the crowds gathered in St. Peter's Square, the Pope said that the feasts of All Saints and All Souls "offer us a singular opportunity to meditate on eternal life."
"In this our time, more so than in the past, we are so absorbed by earthly things that it is hard for us to think of God as a protagonist in history and in our own lives," the Holy Father said.
"Human existence, however, by its very nature, is directed toward something greater, which transcends it," he added. "The yearning in human beings for the fullness of justice, truth, and happiness is irrepressible."
Benedict XVI said that many desire eternal life to find their loved ones, or they await the final judgment in which "each will be allotted what he deserves."
However, the Pope said that for the Christian, eternal life is something more.
It is "a new quality of existence fully immersed in God's love, which frees us from evil and death and which puts us in everlasting communion with all the brothers and sisters who share in the same love," he said.
"Eternal life can already be present in the center of earthly and temporal life when, through grace, the soul is joined to God, its ultimate foundation," Benedict XVI stated. "All Christians, called to sanctity, … have their feet on the earth but their heart is already in heaven, definitively dwelling with the friends of God."
