WHERE IS THE THE KINGDOM OF GOD?

Pope John Paul II in Redemptoris missio explains that the Kingdom of God he established can be found "clearly visible", "before all things in the very person of Christ". He leaves the Church to be His Kingdom on earth, as Christ is the head, its members are His Body. The Church or the Kingdom makes the person of Christ known.

(17): "Likewise, one may not separate the Kingdom from the Church. It is true that the Church is not an end unto herself, since she is ordered toward the Kingdom of God of which she is the seed, sign, and instrument. Yet while remanining distinct from Christ and the Kingdom, the Church is indissolubly united to both." The Dogmatic Constitution on the Church or Lumen Gentium, (LG) promulgated at Vatican II stated:

"Before all things, however, the Kingdom is clearly visible in the very Person of Christ, the Son of God and the Son of Man, who came "to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many" (Mk 10:45).

We could say that Christ made the Church visible, because He is the Head of it's mystical Body, but left, us, the members of His Body to make the Kingdom of God visible by a "gathering of men into the 'family of God' (CCC 542)."

"Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe in the gospel' (MK 1:14-15). 'To carry out the will of the Father Christ inaugurated the kingdom of heaven on earth'(LG 3). Now the Father's will is 'to raise up men to share in his own divine life' (LG 2). He does this by gathering men around his Son Jesus Christ. This gathering is the Church, 'on earth the seed and the beginning of that kingdom' (Lg 5), (CCC 541)."

And, why human society is a vital concern of Christ's Kingdom. A role the Church endeavors to participate in until the Lord returns:

...Hence, while earthly progress must be carefully distinquished from the growth of Christ's kingdom, to the extent that the former can contribute to the better ordering of human society, it is of vital concern to the Kingdom of God.

For after we have obeyed the Lord and His Spirit nurtured on earth the values of human dignity, brotherhood and freedom, and indeed all the good fruits of our nature and enterprise, we will find them again, but freed of stain, burnished and transfigured, when Christ hands over to the Father: "kingdom eternal and universal, a kingdom of truth and life, of holiness and grace, of justice, love and peace." On this earth that Kingdom is already present in mystery. When the Lord returns it will be brought into full flower.
